Hello Everyone and Happy New Year !!! It is now 2012 and as we all know the world is supposedly going to end but this is not going to happen and I am here to clear a few things up. There are two main theories that I have found and only one causes a slight issue.
Geomagnetic Reversal
This is a rare event that might happen in the Year 2012 in which the magnetic north and south would flip causing compasses to switch which way they point but would only take getting used to and not end the world.
Alignment
Another theory is that the sun would pass between us and the center of the Milky Way which would cut off 'energy' that we get from there but this is invalid because it wouldn't affect Earth in any way. The reason I mentioned this is because this could explain why the mayans abruptly end their calendar. The mayan calendar might mark the end of a cycle and that cycle might be one that begins and ends with the sun passing between the Milky Way!
All in all, the world is not going to end.
