Good Afternoon LPS community, this is the Inside Access report of October 12th, and October 13th, 2009. Last week was a little slow as far as Student Government work so there is not much to catch you up on, but as promised, I will be delivering something new everyday.
My first update isn't necessarily from the Student Government itself, but from our joint organization, the Prom Committee. The Student Government Officers and the members of the Prom Committee have been collaborating for the past few weeks on how to make this year's prom a event to be remembered. We have been extremely busy looking for locations, choosing themes, and finding ways to pay for all of the night's expenses.
This Thursday the Prom Committee will be having our first fundraising event. We'll be having a nacho sale! On thursday make sure to bring some money with you because we will be selling nachos and drinks. Support your school's prom and get something to eat. We would also like to inform you that our prom is being promoted as the best prom our school will have so far, but we need your help to make it as good as we say.
Next is again a joint project between the Student Government Officers and the Prom Committee; the 2010 Senior Trip. Again like the prom, these two groups have been very busy planning out how the seniors are going to end our four years with a bang. Last week we sent around surveys to the senior advisories to see how many people would be willing to contribute money for the trip if we, the senior committees can not produce all of the money ourselves.
Our committees were very pleased with how many people were willing to contribute money. The destination, and transportation of the trip are still being worked out so I can't give away any information about that but it is going to be a really nice trip and we encourage more seniors to come. Expect fundraisers for the trip to be operating soon. The more support we get the better the trip will be.
That's all for now. For Freshman, Sophmores and Juniors, updates will be coming to you soon about events but today most of the focus was on seniors. Check in as much as you can for more updates and be sure to check in on tuesdays when most new information is presented. Thanks for reading; a lot will be posted tomorrow but until then, your access has expired.
The newest way schools are fundraising for prom is through charity dates on Prom Date Depot - http://promdatedepot.com It's a really cool thing for student council members to do to show their support.
